Harry Houdini (Budapest, 1874-Detroit, 1926) is one of the most celebrated illusionists of all time. Through his life we can trace the history of modern magic and its evolution, from fairground attraction to popular entertainment. This exhibition shows how he introduced innovative concepts such as physical strenght, speed, suspense and derring-do; how he employed promotional strategies typical of our century; and how he made great efforts to study and document the rational foundations underlying magic. This endures still and magic can be considered a science that allows us to experience our limitations, to understand them, and ultimately to overcome them. But it´s a strange science…forever governed by the laws of wonder.
